Introduction & Overview
This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of AP Score Hub (referred to as "we", "us", or "our"), operated at https://apushcalculator.com. It applies to all calculators, rubric tools, and informational guides available on this platform.
AP Score Hub is an independent educational website created to help high school students, teachers, and tutors calculate weighted AP composite scores and evaluate practice exam results. We are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our users and designing tools that require minimal data collection.
Local Client-Side Calculations & Zero Server Storage
Our core scoring algorithms operate on an architectural model known as client-side execution:
How Your Scores Are Processed
- ✓Local Browser Memory: When you enter multiple-choice raw scores or adjust rubric sliders for the DBQ, LEQ, or SAQ, those values are processed solely within your browser’s temporary memory via JavaScript.
- ✓No Database Transmission: We do not operate a user database, backend API, or cloud storage system that receives, logs, or saves your individual test scores.
- ✓Instant Session Clearance: As soon as you refresh the page or close your browser tab, your entered scores are instantly discarded from memory.
Zero Server-Side Storage Guarantee
Score Sharing & URL Parameters
To make it easy for students to share results with teachers, tutors, or study groups, our calculators include a "Share Score" or "Copy Link" feature.
When you click this button, the application writes your current section scores directly into the URL query string (for example: ?mcq=45&saq=7&dbq=5&leq=4).
- This string is generated locally on your device and copied to your clipboard using the browser’s standard Clipboard API.
- Anyone who opens that specific URL with those query parameters will see the calculator pre-populated with those exact numbers.
- We do not log, associate, or catalog these share links with any personal identity.
Hosting Infrastructure & Technical Server Logs
Like all internet websites, when you visit AP Score Hub, the web servers hosting our static files automatically receive and record basic technical request information.
Technical Log Data May Include:
- • Internet Protocol (IP) address
- • Web browser type and version
- • Operating system platform
- • Date, time, and duration of visit
- • Specific page URL requested
- • Referring website address
Purpose of Logging: This technical data is used exclusively to maintain web server availability, defend against automated Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, detect broken links, and optimize page load speeds. These server logs are automatically rotated and purged periodically.
Student & Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
AP courses and exams are administered to high school students, predominantly between the ages of 14 and 18. Protecting student privacy is paramount.
Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), commercial websites cannot knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
- AP Score Hub does not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain any personal information from children under the age of 13.
- We do not offer user registrations, public profile creation, forum commenting, or contact forms that harvest student personal data.
- If a parent, guardian, or educator believes a child under 13 has somehow transmitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately so we can promptly delete it.
Data Security & Data Retention
We implement industry-standard technical measures to ensure the integrity and security of the website:
- HTTPS Encryption: All communications between your browser and our servers are encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
- Input Sanitization: Calculator inputs are constrained client-side to valid numerical bounds, mitigating injection attacks.
- Data Minimization: By intentionally avoiding the collection of personal user data, we drastically minimize the risk of data breaches.
- Retention: Because calculator data is never stored on our servers, there is no personal score data to retain. Server diagnostic logs are automatically purged on a standard rotating schedule.
Your Privacy Rights (CCPA, CPRA & GDPR Notice)
Depending on your state or country of residence (such as California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the European Economic Area / UK under the GDPR), you may have statutory privacy rights regarding your personal information.
Our Position on Data Sales: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties, data brokers, or marketing aggregators.
Right to Access, Rectify, or Delete: Because AP Score Hub does not collect personal names, email addresses, or individual score histories, we generally maintain no identifiable records linked to your identity. If you contact our support desk via email, you may request the deletion of that specific communication record at any time.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our calculators, technical architecture, or relevant legal requirements. When updates are published, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be revised. We encourage users to review this page periodically.
